The Escapologist currently has escape room venues at White Rose Shopping Centre in Leeds, Xscape Yorkshire in Castleford and Metrocentre in Gateshead. A further city-centre venue in York is due to open in winter 2026. Each location has its own selection of themed escape rooms, so it is worth checking the individual venue before booking if there is a particular room you want to play.
Yes, escape rooms can be enjoyed by beginners, families and children, although individual rooms may vary in theme, difficulty and suitability. They are designed around teamwork, observation and problem-solving rather than requiring previous experience. At The Escapologist, players aged 13 and under must play with a parent or guardian, while those aged 14 to 16 must have a parent or guardian remain on the premises.
An escape room is a themed experience where a group works together to solve puzzles, find clues and complete challenges within a set time. Before starting, you’ll usually receive a briefing explaining the rules and your mission. No previous experience is needed, and clues can be provided if you get stuck. The Escapologist offers a range of themed rooms with different stories and challenges across its venues.
