Escape rooms – Terms and Conditions
Our Terms and Conditions are stated below
Your commitment to us – when you confirm your purchase, you are accepting that these terms and conditions form the basis of any contract between The Escapologist and yourself. No contract exists between yourself and The Escapologist for the sale of any tickets until we have received and accepted your order and received payment in full. Once cleared funds are received, there is a binding contract between us.
The description and price of tickets you order will be shown on The Escapologist website at the time you place your order. Prices are in UK Sterling and inclusive of any applicable taxes. There are no surcharges and once you have paid, we will not increase the price of your tickets. Prices displayed on the website are subject to change without notice. We accept most major credit and debit cards in partnership with our payment gateway. Prices displayed on the site are subject to change without notice.
Discount codes are not for use in conjunction with any other code or offer. Discount codes are discretionary and only for use against full price Escape Rooms and Drinks. Codes are not to be used against packages on offer ie. children’s mixology packages or pre booked drinks. If any purchases made go against these terms and conditions we have the right to charge the difference of the amounts due or cancel your booking and refund your payment without notice. Discounts are also not valid against any gift cards unless there is a specific discount for this.
To ensure that your online shopping experience is secure, your credit / debit card details will be encrypted on a secure server to minimize the possibility of someone being able to read them as they are sent over the Internet.
Limitations of Liability
The Escapologist’s total liability for in contract, tort (including negligence or breach of statutory duty), misrepresentation, restitution or otherwise, arising in connection with the performance or contemplated performance of this agreement shall be limited to the price paid for the goods.
The limitation on any exclusion from liability contained in these conditions shall be subject to the provisions of second 2(1) of the Unfair Contract Terms Act 1977.
The Escapologist will not be liable in any amount for failure to perform any obligation under this agreement if such failure is caused by the occurrence of any unseen event beyond its reasonable control including without limitation Internet and Communication outages, fire, flood, war or act of God.
If any provision of this Agreement is held to be invalid or unenforceable, such provision shall be struck out and the remaining provisions shall remain in force.
Refunds and Cancellations
Unfortunately, we cannot issue any refunds for cancellations.
Tickets are only transferable to an alternative date or time if you contact The Escapologist directly on 01405 800873 or email hello@the-Escapologist.com at least 48 hours before the date you originally booked to visit which appears on your booking confirmation. We cannot guarantee that we can change the date of your visit but we will make reasonable efforts to do so as long as you contact us more than 48 hours before your scheduled visit date. There is an additional admin charge to be added to your booking dependent on the duration of time between your request to move the booking and the booking date. this can range from £1.50 at minimum to £4.50
Online Tickets Terms and Conditions of uses
(i) Restricted terms on tickets purchased online may not be used in conjunction with any other special offer, promotions or vouchers.
(ii) If you are late then your booking may be subject to forfeit without refund. We ask that all bookings arrive at minimum 10 minutes before their booking begins, the start time is listed on each booking confirmation email and at the point of purchase.
(iii) No refunds are given once the online ticket has been purchased. Unless in extreme circumstances.
(iv) Any discounts or offers online are available for limited quantities and periods only and shall not be available on bookings made in person.
(v) Entry is only permissible when the Advance Online Ticket is printed out and presented at The Escapologist.
(vi) All persons covered by an Advance Online Ticket must enter the attraction at the same time, or have a copy of the Advance Online Ticket when entering The Escapologist.
(vii) Tickets purchased as Advance Online Tickets must be printed and legible and are valid for 2 months from the date of purchase, (excluding Tickets valid for a particular or specific named event). Should they be used on dates other than that for which they were purchased, The Escapologist reserve the right to refuse entry. Where entry is sought on a different date; if the Advanced Online Ticket purchase price is higher than the on the day admission charge no refund will be given. On the day prices exclude any current on the day offers/discounts.
(viii) If Concession tickets are purchased as Advance Online Tickets, The Escapoloigist Centre reserve the right to ask for proof of status.
(ix) No Advance Online Ticket may be resold.
(x) If the Advance Online Ticket is scanned and shows that it has already been redeemed then entry will be refused.

(xii). Advance Online Tickets may be used when purchasing a new Annual Pass on the same day as the visit against the new Annual Pass price, where the admission quantity and type (i.e. adult or child) matches the membership quantity and type purchased.
(xiii) Advance Online Annual Passes provide entry into The Escapologist for one year. An Annual Pass card will be provided the first day that this online ticket is used. The start date will be when the online Ticket is first used, as long as it is within 2 months of purchase. The Annual Pass must start within 2 months of purchase.
(xiv) Children under 13 must be accompanied by an adult at all times, including the Escape Rooms. No refunds are available for unused tickets.
(xv) The credit or debit card used to purchase the tickets must be brought with you on the day of your visit, together with a print out of your Advance Online Ticket.
Table Terms and Conditions
For Group Bookings of 16+ in the restaurant – A non Special Event or Christmas
All bookings are pencilled in as provisional until The Escapologist has received full payment of the deposit – in adviacne we Thank you.
In order to confirm your booking, The Escapologist requires a £5.00 deposit per guest for all parties of 16 or more guests. This deposit will be redeemed against your final bill, of course.
We need the deposit to be paid within 7 days of making the booking. This is only so that we may offer the table to other fellow visitors if you decide you can no longer make it.
For Group Bookings in the restaurant – The Christmas Period and Special Events
All bookings are pencilled in as provisional until The Escapologist has received full payment of any depsoit required – Thank you in advance.
We need the deposit to be paid within 7days of making the booking. This is only so that we may offer the table to other fellow parties if you decide you can no longer make it.
Private Hire & Minimum Spends
The Escapologist applies a ‘minimum spend’ for certain area’s/tables depending on events and times. Please always double check with a member of staff.
The ‘minimum spend’ is the least amount of money a party must spend for exclusive use of certain areas – just in case you didn’t know. If you reach the minimum spend, this will amount pre-paid will come off your total bill.
Unfortunately, if the minimum spend is not quite reached, then deposit monies will be retained to the value of the shortfall against the agreed minimum spend.
Please contact us for current minimum spends for use of certain areas per The Escapologist. If you are using one of our private hire spaces, we kindly ask for a deposit of £150 deposit for your party. This amount secures your booking and covers for any damage’s caused, please be aware that you maybe charged extra if excessive damage is caused to items of glass wear or crockery.
For all Group Bookings
How to pay your deposit:
Please would you kindly pay your deposit in one transaction
By cash, in person to your local Escapologist site. Top tip… To avoid waiting around all day please avoid our peak times. (12pm-3pm & 7pm-9pm).
By credit or debit card (over the phone or in person). Please call 01757 247500
Bank transfer, we kindly ask all BACS transfers to be received no later than 1 week after booking has been placed.
Sorry, we cannot accept cheques, or payments after the date of your booking.
Please settle all of your bills on or before the date of your booking.
We reserve the right to refuse 3rd party food and drink to be brought on site, unless prior authorisation has been agreed with a manager.
Cancellation Policy – Excluding festive seasons
If you need to cancel your booking, please let us know as soon you can so we are able to make some room for other guests.
If you cancel your booking and are able to give more than 48 hours’ notice your deposit will be refunded in full.
If you cancel your booking and are not able to give more than 48 hours’ notice your deposit may be retained in full.
If you wish to reschedule your booking to a later date and give more than 48 hours’ notice, we will happily transfer your deposit to the rescheduled date.
Cancellation Policy – Festive Period
If you need to cancel your booking, please let us know as soon you can so we are able to make some room for other guests.
If you cancel your booking and are able to give more than 14 days notice your deposit will be refunded in full.
If you cancel your booking and are not able to give more than 14 days notice your deposit may be retained in full.
*Please note this also applies if you want to reschedule your booking to another date (after 24th December).
Please do keep us in the loop on any changes in numbers (regardless of how small), so we make sure can accommodate you all.
In the event that the confirmed numbers in your party reduce by 10% or more without at least 48hrs notice, The Escapologist reserves the right to forfeit all deposits above the 10% reduction.
If your booking is confirmed for 20 but only 18 people turn up then your full deposit would be redeemed.
However, if your booking is confirmed for 20 but only 15 turn up then you with forfeit the deposit for 3 people.
The Childrens and Adults Menu (which you choose upon booking) have been designed so that no one needs the hassle of obtaining a pre-order; the order will be taken when you arrive before you have entered the Escape Rooms to ensure smooth service.
If you are completing an Escape Room at 8pm or 8:30pm we do accept pre-orders upon arrival to ensure the chef has your meal ready for your Escape, the kitchen usually closes at 9pm so this is much appreciated.
We do however welcome wine and cocktail pre-orders to help get the party started.
The Escapologist reserves the right to retain deposit monies should there be any damage caused to fixtures of fittings by any member of the party. Please look after our lovely abode. (Also mentioned in private hire section).
Please check with your sales representative upon booking for any specifics.
We reserve the right to refuse 3rd party food and drink to be brought on site, unless prior authorisation has been agreed with a manager. Within your booking you have full use of the function room,

You are welcome to join us around 10 minutes before your booking time, so we can get you settled.
We are only able to hold tables for up to 15 minutes after booking time; if you have not arrived or called to let us know you’re running late, we may release your table to another party.
Please inform us of any special food or access requirements or arrangements and we will endeavour to meet them for you wherever possible.
The Escapologist accepts no responsibility for the loss or damage to any items left in our premises. All items are left entirely at the owner’s risk.

Social Media Competition Terms & Conditions
Here’s a good template for standard ‘T&C’s’ that you can use for your competition…
1- The promoter is: The Escapologist Ltd (company no. 10652606) whose registered office is at Unit 2&3, Britannia Business Park, Britannia Way, Goole, DN14 6ET.
2- The competition is open to residents of the United Kingdom aged 18 years or over except employees of The Escapologist Ltd and their close relatives and anyone otherwise connected with the organisation or judging of the competition.
3- There is no entry fee and no purchase necessary to enter this competition.
4- By entering this competition, an entrant is indicating his/her agreement to be bound by these terms and conditions.
5- Route to entry for the competition and details of how to enter are via [http://www.the-escapologist.com] State which social media platforms you are running the competition on.
6- Only one entry will be accepted per person. Multiple entries from the same person will be disqualified.
7- Closing date for entry will be as stated on each post accordingly. After this date the no further entries to the competition will be permitted.
8- No responsibility can be accepted for entries not received for whatever reason.

11- The promoter is not responsible for inaccurate prize details supplied to any entrant by any third party connected with this competition.

13- Winners will be chosen: On dates stated on the competition accordingly, and will be at random by software, from all entries received and verified by Promoter and or its agents.
14- The winner will be notified by email and/or DM on Twitter/Facebook and/or letter within 28 days of the closing date. If the winner cannot be contacted or do not claim the prize within 14 days of notification, we reserve the right to withdraw the prize from the winner and pick a replacement winner.
15- The promoter will notify the winner when and where the prize can be collected / is delivered.
16- The promoter’s decision in respect of all matters to do with the competition will be final and no correspondence will be entered into.
17- By entering this competition, an entrant is indicating his/her agreement to be bound by these terms and conditions.
