At first glance, you might think, “Sports and escape rooms? Bit of an odd combo.” But trust us, this is a match made in adrenaline-fuelled heaven.
Think about it - both worlds are powered by high-stakes competition, problem-solving under pressure, and good old-fashioned teamwork. Whether you’re tackling one of our escape rooms with just 60 minutes on the clock or stepping onto a pitch in front of a roaring crowd, success depends on the same things - sharp minds, sharp teamwork, and the drive to win!
At The Escapologist, we see groups of friends, families, and colleagues tackle our puzzles every day, and there’s nothing quite like watching people come together to beat the clock. It’s not just about unlocking boxes or finding hidden clues, it’s about communication, quick thinking, and pulling together when the pressure is on. Sounds a bit like professional sport, doesn’t it?
It Started with a Chat, and a Shared Love of Competition
When our COO, Olly, got chatting with Charlie Beech, former rugby pro and the brains behind Front Row Support - they found they matched in energy and ambition, both had a competitive streak... and let's be honest, shared a mutual love of a post-game (or post-escape) drink.
They then threw our CEO Ellie into the mix, who’s also Olly’s wife and rumoured to be by far the most competitive of the trio - and a partnership felt like it was meant to be.

So, what does this mean? Well, for starters, we’re throwing a bit of a party! On the evening of Wednesday 16th July, we’re opening our doors to the Front Row crew and anyone else who fancies joining in. Come down to Xscape Castleford, try your hand at one of our rooms, and mingle with a brilliant mix of sportspeople, puzzle-solvers and cocktail (and beer) enthusiasts!
